Nexus Independent Financial Professionals recognises privacy as an important responsibility. Personal information is collected, used, disclosed and protected in line with the applicable privacy notice, regulatory requirements and the purposes for which the information was provided.
What information may be collected?
Information may include full names, identity or passport numbers, contact details, addresses, employment and occupation information, education, health information, gender, race, marital status, language and disability information where required.

Information may be processed for financial planning, estate planning, fiduciary services, advice, contractual obligations, legal obligations, relationship management, verification, audit, record keeping, research and regulatory compliance.

Information may be shared with approved third-party providers where necessary for the agreed purpose, or with government or law enforcement agencies where disclosure is required by law.
How information is protected
Reasonable measures and reputable service providers are used to protect client information. Client information may be kept on CRM systems and cloud-based servers, subject to reasonable security safeguards.

Proper financial advice depends on accurate, complete and current information. Incomplete information, incorrect documents or non-disclosure may affect the suitability of advice and may result in poor outcomes or future claims being declined.

How advice and services may be paid for.
Financial adviser services may be remunerated through one or more approved fee structures, depending on the advice scope, product type, signed documentation, provider rules and client agreement.
Once-off fees
A one-time payment for a specific service or financial plan. This may be a Rand amount or a percentage of investment value as an initial advice fee, subject to signed documentation.
Hourly fees
Fees may be charged based on time spent providing advice or services, with the rate and estimated hours confirmed as part of the engagement.
Retainer / ongoing fees
Ongoing advisory services may be charged as a monthly Rand fee or as a percentage of assets under advice, as confirmed in the relevant signed documents.
Product commissions
Commission may be earned on life cover or insurance products as reflected in quotations and product documents signed by the client.
Disclosure is part of professional advice.
Nexus Independent Financial Professionals has disclosures relating to product suppliers, conflicts of interest, professional indemnity cover, compliance monitoring and complaints handling.
Conflict of Interest
Nexus IFP avoids and mitigates conflicts of interest where possible. A Conflict-of-Interest Policy is available on request.
Professional Indemnity
Nexus Independent Financial Professionals holds professional indemnity insurance as part of its compliance disclosures.

Compliance is monitored by Louise Pardy, an independent Compliance Officer approved by the Financial Sector Conduct Authority.

Product Providers
Advice and intermediary services may involve authorised product providers and service providers appropriate to the client’s advice needs, licensing categories and signed mandate.
If something is not right, raise it in writing.
If you are dissatisfied with any aspect of the service received, the complaint should first be addressed in writing to the adviser. If the matter is not resolved to your satisfaction, it may be escalated through the appropriate complaints process.
Step 1: Contact the adviser
Send your complaint in writing to your adviser, explaining the issue, the relevant dates, supporting information and the outcome you are seeking.
Step 2: Request the complaints policy
A copy of the Nexus Complaints Resolution Policy is available on request. The complaint should be given a fair opportunity to be resolved directly.
Step 3: Escalate if unresolved
If the complaint is not resolved to your satisfaction, you may forward the complaint to the Office of the Ombud for Financial Services Providers, provided you have first attempted to resolve the matter directly.
